Wake Up Calls - A Call To Action

Have you ever felt stuck? Have you ever felt like you are trying so hard to show up and be strong in an environment that just seems to want to break you down? Maybe if you are anything like me you have had times where you have worked so hard to not let yourself be "beaten" by others that you also have lost yourself in the process. Experienced times where the embodiment of stoicism, strength, and perseverance actually started to hurt rather than help you. Times where you have held so tightly to something that actually wasn't yours to hold onto. Where subtle little voices were directing you towards something different. It is through my relationship with mindfulness that I have learned over time to pay attention to these little voices. These wakeup calls. I still am by no means perfect at this. I have stubborn parts of me that seem to continue to need to learn lessons the hard way. Yet as I continue to deepen my relationship with my inner self and hone my mindfulness practices, the more purposeful the challenges in my life become.

I believe that sometimes there are challenges that present themselves in our lives that are our soul's way of telling us that change is desired. There are times where our goals, habits, and areas where we are placing our energy or focus no longer align with our inner selves. Times where doors just seem to close in every direction. Events that take place that to any observer may seem like unfortunate circumstances, but internally there is a knowing that there are greater workings happening. That what is being experienced is a wakeup call to greater abundance. The start to a new chapter of life.

Wakeup calls are not always loud and in your face, although they certain can be if not listened to over time. They can present in many different forms; Injury, illness, loss, heartbreak, and many others. This does not mean that if you experience something hard in your life that you are necessarily doing something wrong. Maybe what you are going through is simply a call or catalyst for change.

Change is a constant. Dependable. Will always be there. It is how that we deal with and view change that makes all the difference. When we are called to change in our lives we can make the conscious decision to tune in. To take action. To figure out what and how needs to happen, and why. Or, we can choose the path of greater resistance. To put up walls and avoid. To numb or project our lessons onto others. This is no easy task, yet it is something we all get to face in each of our lives, as well collectively on a global scale. Navigating calls for change can be extremely confusing, painful and disorienting. It can also be purposeful, connecting, and enlightening.

Within each of us resides our true selves. Versions of ourselves that are wise and powerful beyond measure. To best navigate periods of change we must each develop a strong relationship with our true inner selves. This is not something that happens overnight, nor does it happen upon walking down the continued path of ease and comfort. Part of tuning into ourselves means experiencing and feeling the hurting parts. The shadow parts. The parts that sometime we just want to brush under the carpet or stow in the closet for later. Developing a deeper relationship with your inner self takes intention, dedication, and patience. Like any tree that is being nurtured to bear fruit, sometimes it takes a long time for things to happen underneith the ground, not visible to the naked eye, before results can be seen above ground. Our own personal growth journeys can be much like this. The healing and growth that we are experiencing internally sometimes takes time and patience before results can be seen.

Our healing journeys take time and continue for as long as we are alive. Chapters come and go so long as we keep turning pages. What matters is how well you choose to continue to keep listening to your inner voice. To take the time to tune into yourself. To feel what you need to. To connect with and surround yourself with others who are supportive in your life path. As you continue to walk your own path, keep paying attention to that little voice inside of you that has your best interest at heart. The people in this world might not always have your back, but over time you will have your own. You will know deep down that no matter what you are going through, that you couldn't ever possibly be alone.
